I'm chuckling because I'm an INFJ who has never really been able to get into Eliot. I adore Great Expectations, though. And Atticus Finch, and Jane Eyre.
Ah, I totally understand--she's not for everyone. It's just that Dorothea Brooke is the most INFJ character I've ever encountered, I couldn't resist. Out of interest, which Eliot novels have you tried in the past?
MIddlemarch and Adam Bede. I feel quite guilty for struggling with Middlemarch when everyone else likes it so much. I'm always saying I'm going to go back and try it again. :-) I sort of felt like Eliot and many of her characters were on some lofty plane high above my head; I generally like characters to be a little more down to earth.
"Lofty" is an excellent word for Eliot! While she is probably up there with the GOAT writers, she's not for everyone--I completely get that. When I was planning my undergraduate dissertation, my tutor persuaded me not to go with Eliot because she found her "turgid and tedious" (!). So you're in good company!
